KFC is testing wraps in Atlanta, which is pretty big news in the fried chicken world, but it’s also worth noting that Fuku, Momofuku’s fried chicken sandwich concept, is bringing back its original chicken thigh sandwich at two locations in New York. .

CEO Alex Munoz-Suarez explained in an email:

“Fuku was originally built from a thigh meat chicken sando when we opened in 2015, and it was arguably the juiciest, crispiest chicken sando on the market,” did he declare. “As we expanded outside of our home market of New York in the coming years, customers increasingly requested a white meat version, which eventually inspired us to move on to a new recipe. chicken breast sandwich in 2020. Like so many others, we’ve felt quite nostalgic over the past two years, and it felt like a great time to honor our roots and satisfy our die-hard fans by bringing back the Dark Meat Sando in all his OG glory.

Speaking of nostalgia, Cotton Patch Café has meatball sliders, which might not technically be old school, but still look nostalgic, Applebee has a rather traditional new burger on the menu, and Potbelly takes back his sandwich to the fan-favorite pastrami.

It’s unclear why California Tortilla has new items named after an old The Doors song, but maybe nostalgia has something to do with it, too.

Speaking of chicken, Smashburger sells wings, which is also a big deal, Zaxby’s puts its signature fried bird on fries, Newk’s Eatery has new Buffalo chicken items, Pokeworks has spicy chicken in a bowl (or burrito) , and Tropical Smoothie Cafe has new chicken flatbreads.

Culver’s, for one, is bringing back its Curder Burger, which started out as an April Fool’s joke, but it turns out, unsurprisingly if you think about it, people want a fried cheese patty on their burger.

It’s Halloween season, which is celebrated with new items from Applebee’s, Eureka!, Gong Cha and Insomnia Cookies.

It’s also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, hence the pink frosé at the Toasted Yolk Café.

Pret a Manger offers a whole range of new menu items, and Condado Tacos offers a few as well.

In vegan news, there’s a new 16-handle soft serve oat milk, and Next Level Burger has a dairy-free pumpkin spice shake and a meatless, cheeseless version of a cheeseburger.

Gregory’s Coffee and Beyond Juicery + Eatery offer seasonal drinks, Sprinkles offers a pumpkin spice cupcake, Voodoo Donut offers a donut version of a caramel macchiato, Whataburger offers a breakfast bowl, and Velvet Taco offers its own version of a Texas delicacy: the walking taco.
