Haunted Car Wash Fundraiser for Cancer Battling Boonville Woman
No one is ever ready to hear the words “you have cancer”. There is no advance warning, so you can prepare in advance and start handing over money to cover the huge costs of chemotherapy and regular doctor visits. Fortunately, we live in a community that is more than willing to help each other when life throws us into a major upheaval that we never saw coming. All we have to do is ask. This is exactly what an oil change center and car wash do for one of their own.
Nitro Wash at the Lucas Oil Center on North Green River Road, east of Evansville, is asking for your help with the cost of treating the mother of one of its employees who was recently diagnosed with HER2 + breast cancer. . In return, they’ll give your car a good, albeit scary, clean.
Located across from Meijer, the Lucas Oil Center will be hosting a haunted car wash on Friday October 29 and Saturday October 30 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. both evenings. For $ 15, they’ll drive your car through their Nitro Wash which will be decorated with spooky Halloween decorations and made up of individuals disguised as zombies, spooky clowns, and other spooky characters. 20% of the profits will be donated to the family to help cover medical costs and other needs.
What is HER2 + breast cancer
According to the mayo clinic, a diagnosis of HER2 + or HER2 positive breast cancer means that cancer cells have tested positive for “a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2” which “promotes the growth of cancer cells.”
According to the clinic, about one in five breast cancer diagnoses are HER2 positive and tend to be more aggressive than other forms of breast cancer.
The good news is that the treatments for this form of breast cancer are very effective and that “the prognosis for HER2-positive breast cancer is actually quite good.”
