LAS CRUCES – Are you going to the Southern New Mexico Fair and Rodeo this weekend? Here is a list of some of the foods you can expect to experience at the fairgrounds.

1. Turkey leg

Turkey thighs are pretty much everyone’s favorite and versatile fair trade food! Share, eat alone, stroll among the exhibits or eat while having fun. Nothing goes more with the fair than the turkey legs!

2. Ribbon fries

Of all the cuts of fries, Ribbon-Cut French Fries are this journalist’s favorite.

3. Funnel cake

Whether you grab a funnel cake to snack on during your stay at the fair or buy one for the road, everyone is pretty much guaranteed to eat at least one funnel cake this fair season.

4. Asadero Cheese and Green Pepper Quesadillas

Simple, but delicious. Acosta Farm and its quesadillas are a staple at the Southern New Mexico State Fair.

5. Aguas Frescas

Lemonade is available at every corner of the fair, but sometimes a person needs a greater variety of flavors. Aguas Frescas sellers are numerous this year.

6. Fried pickles

Frying is synonymous with fairs, and this year is no different. Pickles, cookies, peaches and more are all ready to be dipped in batter this weekend.

7. Love apples

A classic but still a favorite. Make sure you have an apple to share this weekend – or go it alone if you feel up to the task.

8. Chili fries

Don’t forget game day by getting an order of chili cheese fries while you’re at the fair.
