Crispy or creamy peanut butter is a timeless food battle

It’s a food battle as old as time. Is creamed or chunky peanut butter better? You’re either on one side or the other and if you happen to buy the wrong one at the grocery store, it’s instantly upsetting. But which one is really the best?

Ok, I can’t really tell you which one is better than the other. It’s all a matter of preference as is the case with most foods. I prefer the big one. Creaminess is fine, but to me there’s really nothing like the difference in textures in a big PB. We find the smoothness of “butter” and the crunch of nuts. It’s the perfection.

But chunky doesn’t always work for everything. If you’re making icing, custard tart, or cake, only the creamer will do. But if we are talking about eating it with a spoon, it must be crunchy.

Since everyone has their own preference, I’ve put together a few products and recipes that show what makes each type so great. We’ll take a look!

1. Talenti Vanilla Peanut Butter Fudge Ice Cream

I had the chance to try this Talenti ice cream and OMG it’s amazing. It features a top layer of peanut butter gelato that resembles the creamiest creamy peanut butter. Next are layers of peanut butter cups, fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, and peanut butter cookies.

It’s the cookies and the mugs that make this a peanut butter fever dream.

2. Peanut Brittle

If you like crunchy peanut butter and haven’t tried the crunchy peanut butter, you need to address this immediately. It has the crunch of candy, an intense taste of peanuts and it is packed with peanuts.

You either want to find a good peanut crunch you can buy or find a recipe that satisfies your taste buds. My mom makes an amazing peanut brittle, so I just have to make her feel guilty for making it.

3. Nutty Buddy Bars

Who doesn’t love Little Debbie Nutty Buddy bars? They are like a childhood classic. While the peanut butter in these bars is creamy, the crunchy wafer and chocolate make it perfect for any PB crunchy fan.

When I eat them, I separate each layer and eat them separately. I highly recommend this method!

4. Peanut butter and jelly bars

The Barefoot Contessa AKA Ina Garten has a recipe for the most amazing peanut butter and jelly bars. I have made them at least three times and they are good every time. The crunch of the crust, crumbly filling, and peanuts on top make this a must-have if crunchy peanut butter is your jam (pun intended).

These bars are like a fancy PB&J sandwich, but they also send you back to eating the classic sandwich as an afternoon snack.

1. Reese’s Klondike Bars

Ok, creamy PB time! Klondike makes a dreamy Reese’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bar. The outer chocolate shell is perfectly thin and crispy, but it’s the smooth peanut butter ice cream inside that will blow your mind in bliss. It’s AF sweet and has the perfect amount of peanut butter flavor.

2. Betty Crocker Reese’s Dessert Bars

Full disclosure: I may or may not have eaten a whole pot of it as a kid. They are so good. The bars come in a kit that you can probably find in the baking aisle of your local grocery store. They are incredibly easy to make. You only need a few additional ingredients.

Once done, chill them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour. After that, cut a slice and try not to go back for seconds and thirds.

3. Lindt Peanut Butter Truffles

Lindt Chocolate is one of the creamiest chocolates you’ll find at the grocery store and the Peanut Butter Truffle is one of the best they make.

Unlike Reese’s, the peanut butter in these truffles is incredibly smooth and creamy. It melts in the mouth as soon as it touches the tongue. The only problem is trying to eat one or two!

4. Breyer’s Reese’s ice cream

Peanut butter ice cream can be tricky to make right. Sometimes that’s not enough peanut butter. Other times it’s too much peanut butter to the point that it almost hurts to eat. This Breyer’s Reese’s ice cream is perfect.

With that, Breyer’s combines PB ice cream with real Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and chocolate fudge swirling all over the place. The sweetness of ice cream and fudge make this a perfect dish for creamy PB lovers.
